Phoolon Ki Sej (B&W) (1964)

Taruna (Vyjantimala), a college girl and Nirmal (Manoj Kumar), an engineer, met at Ooty. They were instantly attracted to each other; and eventually fall in love. In a moment of weakness, they succumbed to their passion and transgressed the boundary of love, Nirmal left the place and Taruna, who had lost his address, found herself in a predicament. She was about to become a mother. She came to Hyderabad in search of Nirmal. Unable to find him, she decided to go to a doctor and get rid of predicament. But the Doctor refused saying: “Our job is to save life, not to destroy it.” Ultimately she sought refuge in Ashram and gave birth to a son. Didi who ran the orphanage took over the child’s care.

Meanwhile Taruna was torn between the love of her son whom she could not own and loyalty to her husband whom she could not tell the truth. Whenever her husband was away, she rushed to meet her son. And then, the destiny brought him close to her when the Doctor and his wife adopted the child as their own. Living in the same house with her own child and unable to claim him as her own son, further tortured her. How long could she bear the suffering? How long could she hide the truth from the Doctor who ready suspected her, and from her husband? But the truth did come out and only the screen would reveal its thrilling impact: a stunning climax.
